Nearby Gold Courses

At one point in it’s history, the hotel boasted it’s own par 3 golf course. Nowadays our 6 acres of property are more sedately landscaped, but if you’re after a quick round or two, there are plenty of nearby courses to choose from. 

There are several golf courses in the area from the 18 hole par 3 course at Chulmleigh to the Championship Links course at Saunton Sands.

CHULMLEIGH

Chulmleigh Golf Course

Just 10 minutes drive from the hotel, the family run, 18 hole, par 3 course at Chulmleigh is a favourite for families and informal players. Guests always report having had a great time at this course, which has some surprisingly challenging holes.

COPPLESTONE

Waterbridge Golf Course

This informal 18 hole course on 24 acres is about 10 minutes away, towards Crediton, on the A377. Ideal for families and players of all experience, looking for a fun and affordable day on a full size course. Prices, course information and booking details are available on their website.

HIGHBULLEN

Highbullen Golf & Country Club

A slightly more formal club but open to players of all experiences, Highbullen offers 18 holes through parklands and the rolling hills of mid Devon, just 15 minutes from the hotel. Prices, course information and booking details can be found on their website.

BRAUNTON

Saunton Golf Course

For the experienced golfer, Saunton Golf Club, near Barnstaple offers a challenging championship level Links course, 45 minutes north of the hotel. There are 36 holes between two courses, with the East course having recently been ranked 22nd in the Golf World “Top 100 Courses in England”. Green fees range from £80 to £130 depending on the time of year, with discounts available for certain conditions. To book online and for more information, please visit their website.

WESTWARD HO!

Royal North Devon Golf Club

Having the distinction of being the oldest golf club in England, the course offers golfers an alternative links style course, just south of the Saunton course, 40 minutes from the hotel. Despite its name it is the more modest and affordable of the two, but offers similar challenges inherent in this type of course.
