We’re lucky to have a lot of good pubs and places to eat nearby, as well as our own bar and restaurant. Here are a few suggestions, and don’t forget to ask our staff, who live locally, for their recommendations! Most local pubs are dog friendly.
LAPFORD
The Old Malt Scoop Inn
Just down the road in Lapford, the Old Malt Scoop is a popular pub with staff, locals and guests and is open for dinner (and sometimes lunch) serving pub food and pizzas.

YEOFORD
The Duck at Yeoford
A family run award winning pub in nearby Yeoford with great food and a lovely atmosphere. Open Wednesday to Sunday, please check website for times.
It’s only 100 yards from the station so you can leave the car and take the train. But do be aware it’s a request stop, so you need to tell the conductor when you get on and flag down the train on your return!
WINKLEIGH
The Kings Arms
Friendly Winkleigh based pub about 10 minutes from the hotel serving pub style food in the evenings and sometimes for lunch. Dating back to the 17th century, it’s reputed that the mischievous spirits George and Celia still haunt the pub today.
KINGS LYMPTON
The Grove Inn
12 minutes north of the hotel near Kings Lympton, the Grove Inn was recently awarded North Devon CAMRA Branch Cider Pub of the Year 2022. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 5.30pm for lunch Friday to Sunday from noon.
CHITTLEHAMHOLT
Exeter Inn
This award winning coaching inn is another staff and guest favourite. Located 15 minutes away in Chilttlehamholt, it is a dog-friendly establishment and is open daily with a great menu for lunches and dinners.
EGGESFORD
Tarka Line Bistro
Just a short walk down to the train station, the Tarka Line Bistro serves coffee, drinks, snacks and meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
