Local Pubs Restaurants & Cafes

We’re lucky to have a lot of decent pubs and places to eat nearby, as well as our own bar and restaurant. Here are a few suggestions, and don’t forget to ask our staff, who live locally, for their recommendations! Most local pubs are dog friendly.

The Old Malt Scoop Inn

Just down the road in Lapford, the Old Malt Scoop is a popular pub with staff, locals and guests and is open for dinner (and sometimes lunch) serving pub food and pizzas.

Opening times and menus can be found on their website.

The Lymington Arms

Another favourite with staff and guests, The Lymington Arms is a 5 or 6 minute drive away on the other side of Wembworthy.

Contact information for reservations as well as menus are available on their website.

The Kings Arms

Friendly Winkleigh based pub about 10 minutes from the hotel serving pub style food in the evenings and sometimes for lunch. Dating back to the 17th century, it’s reputed that the mischievous spirits George and Celia still haunt the pub today.

The Grove Inn

12 minutes north of the hotel near Kings Lympton, the Grove Inn was recently awarded North Devon CAMRA Branch Cider Pub of the Year 2022. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 5.30pm for lunch Friday to Sunday from noon.

Eggesford Crossing Cafe

Just a short walk down to the train station, the Eggesford Crossing Cafe serves coffee, drinks, snacks and meals for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Opening times do vary so check their website for opening times.
