From adventure parks to alpaca walking and ponies to pottery, there are plenty of indoor and outdoor activities for families with children of all ages. The Attractions and Days Trips pages have additional information on things to do in the area.
WINKLEIGH
Alpaca Walking Devon
If you fancy a change from walking the dog, how about walking an alpaca? The Woolley Animals Alpaca Walking & Farm Park is just 15 minutes from the hotel and has a farm park with goats, sheep and pigs, as well as the unique alpaca walking.
Opening times are variable and they only open at weekends in the off-season, so please check their website for details and prices. Sorry, but dogs are not allowed.
BIDEFORD
Big Sheep Amusement Park
One of two large adventure parks in North Devon, The Big Sheep Amusement Park is a great day out for the family with rides, entertainment and petting zoo. It has a rollercoaster, train rides, pedalos, and animal nursery as well as a large indoor playground.
The park is about 45 minutes away in Bideford. Attraction details, opening time and tickets are available on their website.
CLOVERLY
The Milly Way Adventure Park
The Milky Way Adventure Park in Cloverly is about 55 minutes from the hotel. Like The Big Sheep, it also offers a wide range of rides and attractions for all ages and features a birds of prey show.
Dogs are welcome at both The Milky Way and The Big Sheep. Full details about the park, opening times and tickets are available on the website.
TIVERTON
Devon Railway Centre
40 minutes away near Tiverton, the Devon Railway Centre lets visitors ride scale miniature and narrow gauge trains and control trains through model villages.
There are indoor and outdoor play areas including climbing frames and soft play. Opening times and prices can be found on their website.
BIDEFORD
Pebble Ridge Adventure Golf and Go Karts
Open between April and October, Pebble Ridge offers two speeds of family fun with their 18 hole adventure golf and 60cc go-karts.
Located in Bideford, about 50 minutes from the hotel, booking is not required for gold or karts, and more information can be found on their website.
EXETER
Skirmish Devon
For families with slightly older, adventure-seeking children, Skirmish Activity Centre offers paintball, axe throwing and archery. The activity centre covers 120 acres, so there are plenty of places to hide!
Based near Exeter, less than 40 minutes from the hotel. Online booking and details about the facility are available on their web site.
SOUTH MOLTON
Quince Honey Farm
A unique day out to a working honey farm set in 40 acres with more than 1500 hives. Open daily from 9.30 to 17.00, there are guided tours and talks, gardens, an indoor play area and restaurant.
The honey farm is 25 minutes from the hotel in South Molton. Tickets and information about the farm are available on their site.
