GREAT TORRINGTON
RHS Garden Rosemoor
One of the most popular attractions with guests, Rosemoor Gardens is in 65 acres, and open year-round. Regularly updated shows and exhibitions and the changing seasons ensure there is always something new to see.
Just 25 minutes from the hotel, at Great Torrington, Rosemoor has cafes and restaurants, as well as a garden centre, so you can make a complete day of it. Tickets and more information are available from their website.
TIVERTON
Knightshayes Court
This beautiful Victorian country house and gardens is part of the NHS Trust and located near Tiverton, about 40 minutes from the hotel. Take a guided tour of the house, visit the walled kitchen garden, or just wander the acres of wooded walks (dogs are welcome). Weather permitting, you can even bring a picnic.
BARNSTAPLE
Museum of Barnstaple
From prehistoric times to the Victorian era, the Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon lets you explore the history and culture of the local area through a series of exhibitions including the full scale reconstruction of The Barnstaple Elephant.
Admission is free and the museum is open from 10.00 to 17.00 Monday to Saturday.
LYNTON
Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Railway
This unique water powered cliff railway uses only the weight of water to drive the parallel trolley cars up and down the 500 foot elevation. The railway is open between February and November, and Lynton is about an hour away on the north coast. Details and pricing are available on their website.
